
United to End Human Trafficking in Florida
Human trafficking is a crime that destroys lives, families, and communities. The Florida Legislative Working Group on Human Trafficking brings together state lawmakers, public officials, survivors, service providers, and advocates to create a coordinated, effective response to eradicate human trafficking across the state.
GOALS
- Legislative Leadership: Develop and advance policies that address the root causes of human trafficking and close systemic gaps.
- Lived Experience-Centered Approach: Ensure survivor voices guide every legislative and programmatic effort.
- Collaboration & Coordination: Unite government, law enforcement, nonprofits, and community leaders to create a statewide anti-trafficking strategy.
- Education & Prevention: Promote awareness, training, and prevention initiatives to protect vulnerable populations.
- Accountability & Impact: Evaluate and report progress on Florida’s anti-trafficking laws and initiatives.
WORK IN ACTION
- Hosting legislative briefings and roundtables to share research, survivor testimony, and policy recommendations.
- Coordinating with the Governmental and Non-Governmental Agencies, Organizations, University, Civic Groups and other key Stakeholders to strengthen cross-sector collaboration.
- Supporting data-driven, evidence-based policies to improve survivor care and offender accountability.
- Building a legislative action agenda for the upcoming session to enhance prevention, protection, and prosecution efforts statewide.
